Stephanie wint 3e prijs bij internationale schrijfwedstrijd

VLAARDINGEN - Stephanie Lones, leerling van Het Lyceum Vos, is derde geworden bij internationale schrijfwedstrijd Global Dialogues en heeft hiermee een mooie geldprijs gewonnen. Global Dialogues is een wedstrijd waarbij jongeren een kort verhaal schrijven over de volgende thema’s: HIV/AIDS, seksualiteit, geweld tegen vrouwen, alcohol of drugs & seks.

Het doel van dit project is om bij te dragen aan maatschappelijke thema’s door middel van de creativiteit en verbeelding van jongeren. De wedstrijd biedt hen mogelijkheden om taboes te doorbreken en een stem te geven aan hun meningen en verhalen. De internationale jury zei het volgende over haar verhaal...

'3rd place overall in the 2015 Global Dialogues story-creating contest has been awarded to Stephanie Lones of the Netherlands. In her skillfully crafted, powerful fictional narrative, Stephanie tells the story of a young woman who experiences the horrors of date-rape drugs and then, to make things even worse, the nightmare of malicious dissemination of sexually explicit photos and videos. Stephanie takes her main character – and us along with her – down a bleak path fraught with dangers facing young people in today’s world. And then she reveals a way out of the darkness, one featuring long-term healing driven by compassionate action. Stephanie’s main character says in conclusion: ,,So, dear friend, this is my story. I am going to continue to spend my life helping others. I shall bring happiness to those who need it most. Dear friend, I want to tell you to never give up. I tried to give up a decade ago, and look where I’m at now. I’m at peace with myself. I’m using my experience to help others. Dear friend, will you do the same?
